Today I’m showing you my Christmas gifts, this cute little Luminizing Palette by the balm and a red liquid lipstick from their Meet Matt(e) Hughes line. I was already a big fan of the Balm since I bought the Mary-Lou manizer last year. However I dropped it on the floor a few weeks ago, so I was happy to be reunited with my favorite highlighter and to be adding this palette and lipstick to my collection.
Have a look at my review and swatches!
I just love the kitchy, retro packaging of the Balm products.
Since this is a palette, the pans of these Manizer are a bit smaller than the full size versions. They’re 3 grams each, a standard full size version is 8,5 grams.
Mary-Lou Manizer: a highlighter that gives a gorgeous glow. Check out my review here.
Cindy-Lou Manizer: a peachy/pink blush. It’s soft, easy to blend and has a subtil shimmer to it. Well, the least shimmer of all three Manizers that is.
Betty-Lou Manizer: a bronzer with a golden glow. Very pigmented. I love it, but think it would look even better on a real sun kissed tan, am a bit to pale at the moment.
The swatches from left to right: Mary-Lou Manizer, Cindy-Lou Manizer and Betty-Lou Manizer.
All three Manizers combined, picture taken with flash.
Wow, look at that shine, the glow!
If you follow my blog, you know by now that I’m a big fan of liquid lipsticks. I’m a sucker for a matte finish, and love that it’s so easy to use and stays put. Even if take a sip or have a gig and my lips touch my microphone, it’s still in place. This is the Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in “Loyal”.
The applicator is nice, and makes it easy to apply. It has a creamy texture and glides on easily. When I first swatched it, I was surprised. As you can see it looks creamy and appears to have a shimmer to it. But once applied and dried, it leaved a great matte finish.
The staying power is great, when it fades, it still stains the lips. And it doesn’t go all super dry and crumbly, when I applied a new layer of lipstick between the coursed of Christmas dinner.
The palette is a great option if you want to try out the Manizer sisters, and the liquid lipstick has been my go to red lip. Will definitely try out some of the other liquid lipsticks by the Balm.
Have you ever tried anything by the Balm? What’s your favorite highlighter?
