I’ve been making music for quite some time now… I just wanted to share some of the things I’ve learned a long the way. In a way these are tips that can be useful for anybody doing something creative!
- When you work hard, play a lot of gigs, travel miles, but receive little to zero money, you really need to keep yourself motivated to be able to do what you love and make music. It can be really hard to keep improving yourself, and to not give up without motivation. If you can’t break through one door, just try another, and other. Never give up, untill you get what you want.
- Explore! Get and stay creative, by exploring all of the things you’re interested in. Try to step out of your comfort zone and dare to take risks as a performer. It can lead to beautiful things.
- It’s not about the destination. Enjoy the journey you take as a musician! The long nights, the gigs where you play in front of three people, the frustration, it can make you write some of the best songs and make you hungry as a performer to do even better the next time. Learn, study, experience and just enjoy!
